The geochemical exploration is one of exploration methods for mineral resources by chemical analysis and statistical treatment of analytical result of systematically collected field samples such as rocks, sands, soils, etc. This method enable us to predict unidentified ore deposit (hidden ore deposit) existing under surface of the earth.

The average concentrations of elements in the earth’s crust are: gold 0.004ppm, silver 0.07ppm and copper 55ppm. Through geochemical exploration, we focus in the areas with higher concentration of these elements.
When certain elements are concentrated in certain area higher than surrounding area, it is considered as geochemical anomaly. The area where geochemical anomalies occur is geochemical anomaly zone, and it becomes a target for a detailed geology and mineral occurrences survey, geophysical survey and drilling survey at the nest exploration stage.
The quality of exploration methods and accuracy of chemical analysis have been remarkably improved comparing with the past. In recent years, most of the large-scale buried ore deposits discovered in many places in the world are discovered by this method. This method is particularly effective in the area of heavy vegetation such as Japan and Southeast Asia.
