GIS (Geographical Information System) is a system superimposing geographic information, such as buildings, land information, land use information, distribution of population, building and facility information etc., on digitized map. This provide various information and various analyses are possible by using this.
GIS can handle not only information of three elements of vector data (polygon, point and poliline) but also the information of raster data consisting of regular distribution of cells such as satellite imagery and DEM (digital elevation model) and table data of spreadsheet. GIS can display various information on a map and it has search function.
Further, GIS can perform modeling and analysis based on various information overlapped in the same area and visualize these results.
