Regarding a method for calculating the biomass, an actual survey and an aerial photo are used, but the both require huge cost and times.
Mitsubishi Materials Techno Corporation has developed a technology for efficiently measuring the wide range biomass with low cost using satellite data. In this technology, the data by the world's first polarimetric SAR sensor (PALSAR) data carried in the domestic satellite "DAICHI" can be used.
Mitsubishi Materials Techno Corporation is still continuing research for utilizing the quantitative measurement of the forest biomass.
